OVERVIEW OF THE WEB SITE

This web site consists of two major sections:  Theory and Harmony.  Theory contains a brief description of a perception of language, a vision, if you will.

Harmony contains a performance piece entitled Harmony,   Harmony consists of 42 sections: a prelude, an epilogue, and 40 images in between.  The piece is over 4 ˝  hours long and 292 MB in MP3 format.  I do not expect anyone to listen to this in one sitting.  All 42 sections can be heard separately - the largest section is under 16 minutes long..  Feel free to download the piece, although its size may make that impractical.  Instead, I recommend streaming the piece – playing each section as you receive it.  To do so, I believe you must have either Windows Media Player or Real Player installed on your computer.  Just click on the files and play them.

Because this approach to language may sound a bit strange, I have provided a libretto of the images, a translation of the text into “straight” English.  The libretto is in MS Word.

Hyperlinks are on the left side of the screen.  To go back up to a higher level on the web site, click on the hyperlink at the top left of the page.  You can always come back here, to Overview.  Feedback is welcome.  The email address is on the bottom of the Theory and Harmony pages.

Two points of apology:  1) I am not much of a techie.  When I recorded the piece, the computer’s background hum was also recorded.  2) Harmony calls for eight different voices, four male and four female.  When I made this recording, I only had my voice.  I used a wonderful computer program, ProTools, to record and filter my voice.  The resulting voices sound different, but they are just variations on the same voice.  Please view this recording as a demonstration of what lies within the piece.  I plan to find and train a cast and then record a clean and “full” version of the piece.  Until then, enjoy.
