When we talk, we move our articulators, our tongue and lips. Each
movement changes the sounds we produce. When we talk normally, we
move the articulators very quickly. So quickly, we hear the sounds
as distinct. When we slow down the movement of the articulators,
we can hear the movement of the sounds. They flow into each other.
We can hear the overtones. We can hear speech as movement.
Compare the sounds of the two sets of passages in the recording reached by the adjoining hyperlink.. The difference between them: speed. |
